Hi, I'm Laura. There are 5 main things you should know about me...
I'm originally from the Hudson Valley, and a proud graduate of Minnesota State University.
I'm married to an amazing guy who makes me laugh every day. We got married at a summer camp in the Poconos, and paddled away in a canoe.
There are two little ladies in my life, Kayla the most amazing 10 year old ever; and Sophie the greatest cat that ever lived.
I'm the sister to an outdoorsman. My brother has hiked and climbed some of the tallest peaks in the U.S. He also takes some pretty awesome pictures!
I'm the daughter of artists; my dad was an accomplished visual artist who also ran a performing arts center, and my mom was a creative genius. It was because of them I was raised with an appreciation and thirst for the arts, and was encouraged to pursue them as a career.
7 things I love are...
Being outside — If it’s sunny, I actually feel bad about being inside.
Cats and dogs — All animals, really. On my honeymoon, I got to hold a monkey. It was the best thing ever.
Podcasts— Right now I live for The Bowery Boys: New York City History and anything that comes from the team at This American Life.
Traveling— Whether it’s a day trip out of the city or flying to the other side of the world, I love experiencing new things (and photographing them).
Theatre — My parents must have known this ahead of time because my birth announcement was a theatre ticket! I toured in and represented Broadway shows for almost a decade before focusing on photography full time.
New York City— I get goose bumps every time I fly back and see the skyline. After almost 12 years I still can’t believe I get to call this place home.
Photography— I took my first photo class in 9th grade with the brilliant Mr. Mahar. I've rarely put down my camera since. Check out some of the photos I've taken in and around NYC below! I'm also a fine artist and have an Etsy store called Pretty Possum Prints.
